A plate reverb built as a functional piece of art, made to be used in playing and making music.
Steel frame with a thin steel plate tensioned inside. A transducer drives the plate to create the reverb effect, and a piezo element acts as a microphone, picking up the reverberated sound to use in music. The frame is treated with steel blackening acid, which darkens the steel. The plate reverb works as both an art piece and a musical instrument.
In 2025 the plate reverb was shown at the COPIUM art exhibition, with sound art playing through the plate around the clock.
